When we launched the Gypsy Kids range in February of this year, our clothing was photographed as flat shots, on our now ’signature’ risoni background! The shots have worked really well, but with a great deal of encouragement we decided to get some gorgeous little ones into Gypsy Kids gear to show how well the clothes fit, how easy they are to wear, how they can mix and match and how they can adapt from season to season.

A big thank you to Little Rivet Jeans for supplying jeans for the shoot (they are the best jeans in the world for kids), and Red Bootie shoes – we love them!

So here’s your sneak peak!

For tiny little tots…

Have you ever wandered through a gift shop or book shop and come across something so special that you have fallen in love at first sight? Or should I say, first read?

I fell in love at first read with Kate Knapp’s book of affirmations, “It’s not always black and white.” Full of the most uplifting words and images, this book is one of those that you want to buy for yourself.

My mother bought it for me as a gift when she saw my face light up as I turned the pages, and laugh out loud at the simplest of images that rang true to my heart.

It’s Kate’s delightful drawings which help to bring her words to life. Just fine line drawings that perfectly illustrate the meaning behind the affirmation.

As Kate writes on her website, ‘Life isn’t always clear and simple, cut and dried, open and shut, nor straight up and down.
Life isn’t always black and white. There are many shades of grey. Colours too. And the road to the rainbow has many a twist and turn.
Yes, the world can be a funny old place at times. But hey – it’s the only one we have. So we’d best put on our best smiles, and put our best feet forward.”

Kate has also applied her talent to a range of gift cards, stationery and art prints. Funnily enough I had been sending friends and family her cards without realising she was the name behind the book I loved. At least I’m consistent with my choices!

Have a look at Kate’s website, www.twigseeds.com.

Each season brings with it a key colour that signifies the overall feeling for the months ahead, and for summer 2010 the resounding favourite is…

Turquoise. In particular, Pantone colour 15-5519. Spring and Summer naturally evoke a sense of lazy, balmy days, sweeping azure waters, gentle white waves and clear blue skies. The easy calmness of turquoise (a green/blue hue) brings these feelings to the fore, and when set against more neutral tones like white and cream, or highlighted with soft shades of blue, turquoise becomes much easier to work with in fashion for the body, and for the home.

Turquoise is the perfect accent colour, easily working with a tropical theme or evoking the heat of a Moroccan summer – especially when paired with white linen. Dubbed the ‘It’ colour for Spring/Summer 2010 by leading trend forecasters around the world, turquoise also looks great contrasted with reds and pinks for a very fresh look.

Easier said than done of course. But Gandhi was a visionary, and his words do ring true. All of the things we hope to achieve in the world, and all of the qualities we look for in others – if we embody those qualities, and make those changes in ourselves, we can achieve our dreams.

A fabulous website that exemplifies this train of thought, is wearewhatwedo.
